Dominated by its mountainous terrain, Laos is an unexplored adventure for those who wish to witness the marvels of the Asiatic continent.

Luang Prabang designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site is the perfect start to your journey through this mystical country. The splendour of the nation’s culture is proudly displayed throughout this small town. Travelling through the town is an adventure in itself – you can swim along the Mekong or cycle through the rugged terrain.

Central to the town, lies the Royal Palace displaying an interesting mixture of Laotian and French architecture. Different to those found in neighbouring Cambodia and Thailand there is a sense of understated style to this stately building and the residential quarters of the King have been beautifully preserved for visitors to appreciate.

While the building is a remnant of the nation’s treasures, the highlight is definitely the Pra Bang monument. A magnificent statue of Buddha carved from gold alloy this fantastic scuplture is like no other. Photographs of the golden legend are prohobited and therefore this master piece must be enjoyed in the present moment and images captured in the mind only.

Laotian culture takes pride in its unique mosaic art, best displayed in the Buddhist temple of Wat Xieng Thong. Like other architectural examples throughout the country, this temple also exemplifies aspects of French architecture but there is something in store here which you may not have seen in any Buddhist temples within this region – a reclining Buddha!

The sheer size of Asia makes it a hotspot for diverse geographical specimens, with Si Phan Don, an archipelago of islands being one such example. The charms of this place can leave the eyes mesmerized are represented by mystical waterfalls such as Khon Papheng Falls and Khon Pa Soi Falls – the former, however, is the highlight of the miracle of Mekong. On a weekday, it is easy to find picnic spots around the area, just pack a nice basket and you’re good to go for the day.
You cannot arrive for an adventure in Laos and leave without a memorable picture of the mighty Mekong – take a walk to the Bang Hang Khon Viewpoint to witness the majesty of this river in all its glory and wrap up a trip of the lifetime.
Whether you’re an adventure enthusiast or willing to explore something different – this part of South East Asia will welcome you with open arms, check out this itinerary which has been designed with the view of serving you the best of the best of Laos and making sure you keep coming back!
